Why Large Animal Vets & Farmers Are Choosing Kool Dri® for Personal Protective Equipment

Some of the messiest jobs are often the most rewarding, especially when you’re a farmer or veterinarian. Working with animals—however messy it can be—may be great, but it’s important to keep yourself as clean and safe as possible. So, what is some of the best personal protective equipment out there? Kool Dri® Rainwear’s full-body rain suits, of course!

What is Personal Protective Equipment?

While not all farming or veterinary jobs will require personal protective equipment (PPE), many who work in these fields probably already know what it is. In short, PPE is any assortment of “protective clothing, helmets, goggles, or other garments designed to protect the wearer’s body from injury or infection.” This equipment comes in four different types that have various levels of bio-security defined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

  • Level D: This is the lowest level of personal protective equipment and is mostly considered as “nuisance contamination” coverage. It’s likely used as everyday work attire for farmers, veterinarians, and other professions and only requires coveralls and safety shoes.
  • Level C: When there are airborne substances that are known or measured, but that you are unlikely to be exposed to, this next level of coverage is required. A full or half face mask with an air-purifying respirator, chemical resistant clothing, gloves (inner and outer), and boots are all requirements of this PPE.
  • Level B: Level B contains the highest level of respiratory protection, but has less eye and skin security. This level is the minimum requirement for unknown site entries. It also has the same specifications as Level C, but with a positive-pressure, self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Level A: When you need the highest level of security for respiratory, skin, eye, and mucous coverage, this is the level used. The attire for this level is the same respiratory spec as Level B but needs a fully encapsulated chemical protective suit.

When you’re dealing with large animals in any capacity, you’re likely not going to need any of the higher levels of PPE security. You’ll probably just need coverage so that your clothing isn’t ruined! So what can you wear that meets Level D PPE requirements? That’s where Kool Dri® comes in.

Kool Dri® Can Cover Level D

It may come as a surprise, but a lot of our clients are dairy farmers and large animal veterinarians. Our rain suits are very multi-functional but work particularly well for pressure washing and birthing calves.

The suits can be ordered in full or in pieces, depending on your needs. Farmers find the bib-style pants particularly useful, which range from sizes small to 5XL. Our sturdy, breathable fabric allows for natural movement while still being durable.

What Makes Kool Dri® Special?

As we just mentioned, the material we use for our products is where all of the magic truly happens. Cut from a specially-developed polymer and nylon material, our suits offer quite a few advantages other than the ones we’ve already mentioned!

Reusable

When you’re a farmer, a vet, or really anyone needing personal protective equipment, the last thing you want is for it to tear. But luckily, the material we use for Kool Dri® products is almost completely indestructible. The rugged material keeps it from snagging or fraying, so you can confidently wear it time and time again without having to replace it. We actually meet and exceed military specifications for waterproof fabrics.

5 Year Warranty

Still not sure about our product? That’s okay! We understand that you want to make sure your time and money are well spent on quality investments. That’s why we proudly guarantee that your purchase won’t fray or show signs of defects for up to 5 years from when you bought it.
